What the heck is The 100?

The 100 is a series of YA books and a television show set in the near future (2149) after a Nuclear Apocalypse. A small group of 100 juvenile delinquents being sent down from a space station orbiting Earth to see if the ground is survivable once again. They meet up with survivors on the ground (Grounders) and more adults descended from The Ark (the space station), and have to survive on the irradiated Eastern Seaboard of the United States.

TV show or books?

Our canon comes from the TV show, rather than the books. That means a smaller Ark than The Colony of the books, lesser technology on the Ark (no ocular implants, for instance), and clans of Grounders. It also means that it has been only 97 years since the Nuclear Apocalypse.

What differences do we have from the show?

Our game exists in a mirror universe from the TV show. While the starting situation is the same, the only characters that exist in both are the two most powerful people in each clan: Chancellor Thelonius Jaha and Councilman Marcus Kane of Skaikru, Commander Lexa and Chief Indra of Trikru, Queen Nia and Prince Roan of Azgeda, and President Dante Wallace and Chief of Security Cage Wallace of the Mountain Men. None of the show's Delinquents exist… it will be up to the PCs to decide their course.

Can I use an actor from the TV show as a played-by?

Yes, but we ask that you don't duplicate the concept associated with that actor's character on the show. For example, you can use Eliza Taylor as a played-by actor, but your character should not be similar to Clarke Griffin. Since the images from the show neatly fit the theme, it would be unfortunate to ban those actors as played-bys for original characters.

Can I play a Grounder?

Yes, so long as your character is a member of the Trikru and has an explicit reason to RP with Skaikru, as our focus will remain on the Skaikru.

Can I play an Ark adult or non-Delinquent teen?

Yes, chargen is opened for Arkers.

What do you mean Delinquents are closed?

We've actually managed to get the majority of the 100 Delinquents either apped as PCs, or killed off in the first month on the Ground. You can absolutely still app in an adult Arker or a non-Delinquent teen Arker (or even someone who was Boxed but won their appeal upon turning 18 before appeals were cut off in preparation for the 100 Project).

Can I play a Mountain Man?

Yes and no. Chargen for short-term Mountain Man PCs is open. However, these characters are generally designed to provide roleplay and relationships with those Delinquent PCs who have OOCly volunteered to be captured by the Mountain Men. It's possible that some of these characters could become long-term PCs, if RP goes in that direction, but there are no promises. As with Grounders, the focus will still be on the Skaikru, however.

How do Social Skills work?

Social skills are very much part of the game. Persuasion represents how well-said a truthful argument is, and can be used to sway the opinion of NPCs. Players may determine the reaction of their PC to the content of the argument freely. Deception represents how believable a false argument is, and can be used to sway the opinion of NPCs. Players may determine the reaction of their PC to the content of the argument freely. Basically, social skills provide context for PC-PC interactions, and direction for PC-NPC interactions.
