The Ark

The Ark is a space station comprised of 12 space stations that elected to come together in 2054, two years after a nuclear apocalypse destroyed (to the knowledge of its inhabitants) life on Earth. It was further expanded from these original stations by cannibalizing available satellites to help expand and repair it's existing structures.

The twelve stations came from the following nations, as shown on the Unity Day episode in season 1:

  • Australia
  • Brazil
  • Canada
  • China (Shenzhen)
  • France
  • India
  • Japan
  • Russia (Mir-3)
  • United Kingdom
  • United States (Alpha Station, included the ISS.)
  • Uganda
  • Venezuela

The Government and Science station (Go-Sci for short) is the large primary ring of the Ark. Go-Sci and the Ark's other ring stations rotate to create artificial gravity using centripetal force. The station has a United States flag on it, implying that much of Go-Sci was converted from the original United States national station. It is the location of the key command and operations sections of the Ark.

No one actually lives on Go-Sci. Most of those working there live in Alpha Station, although some might live elsewhere. The Chancellor and Councilors have day-rooms on Go-Sci, for entertaining, cat-naps, etc, but they aren't usually permanent quarters.
